Camerino is a small hilltop town in the Apennines, in Marche, a region in central-eastern Italy. The town is home to the University of Camerino (UniCam), founded in 1336 and officially recognised by the Pope in 1727. It is currently ranked as the best university in Italy among those with fewer than 10,000 students.

Italy is a member of the European Union and part of the Schengen area. Please check if you need a visa to enter Italy. In case you do, please apply as soon as possible: we have lost a few students already in previous years because of visa issues :-(

Camerino is located in a more rural area of Italy and is not particularly easy to reach by public transportation. We will travel to Camerino together from Rome, which is a 3.5h train journey. We will take care of buying a group train ticket. You only need to take care of your travel to Rome.

Rome has two large airports, Fiumicino (FCO) and Ciampino (CIA). Ciampino is serviced by several budget airlines but a little further from the city and Fiumicino is closer but often more expensive to fly to. Both airports have reliable transport links directly to Roma Termini (Rome's central train station).

You will have to be at Roma Termini not later than

14:30 on Sunday 1 September

If you don't find a connection that works on Sunday, we invite you to travel to Rome on Saturday, 31 August. We will organize a warm-up meeting Saturday night (more info later). In any case, you will find a full range of accommodation options in Rome, and lots of activities to fill your time!

Note that if you don't make it to Roma Termini train station on Sunday 1 September before 14:30 you will not be able to reach Camerino by public transport, because that is the last connection!

Meeting on Sunday, 1 September, at 14:30 at Roma Termini train station. We will meet inside the station building in front of the café “Acafé”, on the ground floor at the station entrance at the crossing of via Giovanni Giolitti and Piazza dei Cinquecento: Acafé, Piazza dei Cinquecento, 48, 00185 Roma. You don't need to buy the train tickets: we will take care of that.

For the return journey, there are a number of options to take you back to Roma Termini, but you will not be there earlier than 13:00 on Sunday 8 September. Take this into account when booking your return flight.

We have arranged accommodation for all students in the local university accommodation. This will consist of apartments of 2/3 single rooms (with bed linen and towels) and shared bathroom. There is a little kitchen in the apartments, but it is not furnished: you may want to bring some basic cutlery with you. We especially encourage you to bring a cup for water/tea/coffee: we want to minimize the amount of plastic garbage produced during the coffee breaks.

The apartments are located within walking distance of the venue for the classes. You will need to cover the cost of your room, but this will be around 70€ per person for the whole week. See here for some pictures and location.

Check in / out will be on Sunday 1 September and Sunday 8 September respectively.

Our classes will take place in the Rettorato, a little outside the town center (map).
